It was a proud day for the winning apprentices, their training providers and employers as the Scottish Engineering Apprentice Craft Competition award ceremony was held at Peterhead Engineering Development limted's training centre on Thursday 28th September 2017.
The annual competition sponsored by Score Group plc, and this year supported by Developing the Young Workforce(DYW) North-East, was held in June at Tullos Training and saw competitors from across Scotland competing in the two categories, for electrical and mechanical engineering.
Tullos Training excelled in this year’s event with Jackie Adams (Expro) winning the Mechanical Engineering category ahead of Peterhead Engineers Development’s William Addison (Score Group). In the Electrical Engineering category Tullos Training’s Stuart Milne (MEE) took second place to North Highland College’s Natalie Cornwell (Rolls Royce).
The winners and runners-up were presented with their awards by James Bream on behalf of DYW North-East in front of proud representatives from their training providers and employers.
Conrad Ritchie, Managing Director of Score International Limited said following the award ceremony, "These young people are the future and have excelled during this competition. All the entrants chosen to participate are winners and are role models to other young people. We were delighted to sponsor the competition this year and look forward to continuing our support for this long running event. We would encourage all training providers to field a candidate next year as participation alone has a positive effect all round."
Jim Booth, Training Executive of Tullos Training Limited also added, "Tullos Training Ltd was delighted to be asked to host the Scottish Craft Competition this year. After weeks of hard work, it was great to see so many young apprentices from throughout Scotland compete. It was a long and hard day, with excellent results. Tullos Training was extremely delighted to find out that both of our apprentices had picked up awards this year, Jackie Adams 1st place in the Mechanical category and Stuart Milne 2nd place in the Electrical. Congratulations to them both and to the other winners, but a big thank you to all of the candidates who took part, making this year's competition so close."
